How much does a trip to Croatia cost?

Croatia is in the eurozone, so everything is priced in euros — no currency conversion to worry about. As a rough per-person daily guide: backpackers staying in hostel dorms, eating at konobas or street stalls and getting around by bus (with the occasional ferry) can manage on around €45–65 per day. Mid-range travelers in guesthouses or apartments, with seafood dinners, island ferries and some tours, should budget roughly €85–150 per day. Luxury travelers in 4–5★ hotels or villas, with private transfers, fine dining and skippered boats, can easily spend €250–600+ per day.

Where you go matters as much as how you travel. Dubrovnik and Hvar are the most expensive spots in the country, and prices across the coast spike in peak July–August — accommodation can run 50% higher than shoulder season. For better value, look at Istria (Rovinj, Pula, Poreč), the Kvarner region, Zadar and the interior around Zagreb and Plitvice.

The biggest savings come from travelling in late May–June or September–early October, when the sea is warm, ferries still run full schedules and prices drop well below the August peak.
